Making the Business Charity Awards shortlist
It’s the first time that the Unite Foundation has been entered into the Third Sector Business Charity Awards in the Corporate Foundation category and we were just delighted to be shortlisted alongside the likes of PwC, Credit Suisse and Axis.
The Unite Foundation was established by Unite Students comparatively recently in 2012. (Unite is a developer and operator of student accommodation in the UK providing around 50,000 homes to students in Scotland and England.)
As is typical of corporate foundations, the majority of our funds come from a single business and Unite Students supports us with annual cash donations and matched staff fundraising but also gifted us a significant investment asset in 2015 to secure our long-term future. The awards were announced at an event on 23 May where we were joined by two of our scholarship students, representatives from our London partner universities: King’s College London, UCL and Queen Mary, and Priya Clarke, the co-Chair of the National Network for the Education of Care Leavers ( NNECL) pictured below.
We did not win the title this year but like the World Cup, maybe next time!
